SUPREME COURT SACKS JULIUS ABURE: A NEW DAWN FOR LABOUR PARTY.~ Osereme Omofoma
In a landmark judgment that will be remembered as a turning point in the political history of Nigeria, the Supreme Court has sacked Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party. This long-awaited decision comes as a sigh of relief to millions of Nigerians and party faithful who have watched with dismay how Abure's high-handedness, personal ambition, and greed nearly tore the party apart.

For years, voices within the Labour Party—including respected leaders like Mr. Peter Obi, Governor Alex Otti, and several high-ranking members—pleaded with Julius Abure to allow for the proper structuring and institutionalization of the party. These calls were not just for formality, but for the survival and integrity of a political platform that ignited hope in the hearts of Nigerians during the 2023 general elections. But Abure refused. He silenced dissent, hijacked party structures, and ran the Labour Party like a private estate. The voices of reason were suppressed, transparency was abandoned, and the very ideals that birthed the party were trampled upon.

But today, justice has prevailed.

The Supreme Court ruling is not just a legal victory; it is a moral victory for all those who believe in democracy, equity, and true leadership. This decision paves the way for the Labour Party to rebuild from the ashes of internal dictatorship and reposition itself as the true vehicle for national transformation.

No Victor No Vanquish!

This is a clarion call to all former members who withdrew in frustration. To those who no longer associated with the party because of the rot at the top. To those who lost the case in the court. To those who were on the verge of leaving or had written off the Labour Party as another failed political experiment—we say: Come back home, we are all one.

The darkness has lifted. A new era has begun.

Now is the time for unity. Now is the time to restructure, reorganize, and rebuild a party that belongs to the people—not to one man’s ego. We must come together to create an institution that reflects the ideals of justice, equity, youth inclusion, innovation, and national progress.

Let us remember what brought us together in the first place—the dream of a New Nigeria. A Nigeria where leaders serve with humility, where public institutions are protected, where the people’s will reigns supreme. That dream is not dead. That vision is still alive.

With the Labour Party, a new Nigeria is not just a slogan—it is POssible.

Let us arise and take back our party. Let us arise and take back our country.
