OROGHO COMMUNITY PETITIONS EDO STATE GOVERNMENT OVER SEPLAT’S ALLEGED ILLEGAL CEDING OF SIX OIL WELLS TO DELTA STATE.

The people of Orogho Community in Edo State have formally submitted a petition to the office of the Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor on Oil and Gas, Hon. Felix Osemwengie Isere, Esq., calling on the Edo State Government to urgently intervene in recovering six oil wells forcefully and illegally ceded to Delta State by Seplat Petroleum Limited through the use of military force.
In the petition submitted today by Mr. Charles Eghaghe on behalf of the community, Orogho indigenes expressed grave concern over what they described as an unjust and illegal annexation of their resources. They noted that Seplat, the operating company in the area, is fully aware that the oil wells rightfully belong to Edo State, yet has remained complicit in the takeover.
The petitioners have issued a 14-day ultimatum to the Edo State Government to take decisive action in reclaiming their rightful resources. They warned that failure to address their concerns would compel them to mobilize for a massive protest against Seplat and other parties involved in what they termed as an economic injustice against their community.
“We cannot sit back and watch our resources being forcefully taken away from us while our people continue to suffer neglect and deprivation. These oil wells belong to Edo State, and we demand immediate action from the government to reclaim what is rightfully ours,” the petition stated.
The Orogho community has called on Governor Monday Okpebholo to use all necessary means to address this pressing issue and ensure justice for the people of Edo State.
This development is as a result of recent Edo State Government’s effort through the office of the Special Adviser to Edo State Governor on Oil and Gas, to recover all Oil wells and assets wrongly ceded to Delta State.
